Painting as a
form of thinking.

About

Between dream
and existence.

Born in Pusan, South Korea. Based in Düsseldorf, Germany. Jun Ho Cho is a Korean-born artist who has been living and working in Germany for many years. His paintings are characterized by their use of animals to express complex and subtle human emotions, as well as their incorporation of theatrical elements.

In his art, Cho frequently asks questions about his changing values and the reason for his existence, drawing on themes that are personal and reflective of his experiences living in two different cultures. Animals play an important role in his paintings, with each species often representing a particular idea or concept. For example, the rabbit appears frequently in Cho's work and is associated with the natural surroundings of his German home, while the zebra represents his own feelings of being caught between two worlds.

Cho also experiments with different techniques and media to create unique visual effects in his work. He often coats his canvases with acrylic paint applied layer by layer, which results in a shifting, multi-dimensional effect that is dependent on the surrounding temperature and light conditions. Additionally, he leaves paint dripping from the canvas to explore ideas of flatness and dimensional space.

Overall, Jun Ho Cho is a deeply introspective artist whose work reflects his personal experiences and ideas, as well as his interest in using animals and theatrical elements to explore complex human emotions. His unique approach to painting and his willingness to experiment with different techniques and media make his work engaging and thought-provoking.
